This week, Melania Trump delivered what should have been a signature speech on behalf of her husband. It was spoken with poise, grace and enthusiasm, and had everyone in the room eating out of her hands.
Only one problem…a significant part of it was plagiarized from an earlier speech by Michelle Obama.
This story was all over the news today, and rightly so. It’s a major embarrassment to the Trump campaign during a week when he’s front and center, set to make his case for President to the American people.
This type of gaffe is fairly commonplace, and Barack Obama himself plagiarized a speech from Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. But these public acts of theft and negligence are inexcusable, and reflect terribly on the people who deliver them.
